Writing Attractive Blog Posts
If you want your blog to be an attraction to your website, you really need to write a blog post at least once a week. I have a pretty good selection of content on this website, now I need to attract an audience.
Start using your blog, Yoast SEO Premium and Google Analytics to attract an audience. I’ve got a good start on content, now I need to get started attracting traffic.
Yoast SEO Premium
I’ve got Yoast SEO Premium installed, so I can use that to help me create attractive blog posts. Click on that red Headline Analyzer to work on writing attractive blog post headlines.
Clicking on the gear icon bring out your Yoast SEO Premium analyzer. There are several different sections you can expand and analyze. Follow the Yoast system. They are SEO professionals and know a lot more about search engine optimization than I do.
Let Yoast coach you into producing attractive content. Click on Post or Block at the top of the panel that pops out from the right side of your dashboard, to show the options you can adjust there.
At the bottom of the add new post page is another set of Yoast SEO Premium tools that you can use to adjust how your story will appear in search engines.
Google Analytics
I am not a big fan of Google, Facebook or Twitter. However, in order to make my website more visible, I am going to have to work with them. Like I’ve said before, one of the best ways to change large organizations is from within.
Be mindful of what you say. Be polite. Avoid any conflict and contention as much as possible. Just write your stories and stop complaining about what other people say and do. Be a good example.
I know that I have plenty of character defects, so I am willing and able to forgive people I disagree with. Reason with each other.
Variety is good. If we all agree about everything, life on earth would get really boring. Not only that, we will not be learning much if we already know everything there is to know. Learn from each other. Teach people something valuable.
Focusing your website on one particular specialty will improve your search engine ranking. I have a wide range of interests, so I’ll have to overcome this particular metric. Or divide my website up into several, more specialized websites. My webhosting package does include up to five websites.
Use Google Analytics to investigate your audience and help guide you to produce what they want and need. Stay true to yourself, but definitely listen to your audience and adapt to their responses to your stories. Experiment with those tools. Get really good at using them naturally and smoothly, in every blog post you write.
The Structure of Your Stories
Get in the habit of writing really good subheadings. Let your subheadings tell a story. You can write your subheadings first, as an outline, and then fill in the content of the story.
Learn how to write by reading a lot. Pay attention to how the stories you read are formatted. Use their example. Read some poetry books every once in a while, to get your writing to flow in an attractive way.
Get your photo processing system set up. Add pictures to your stories. You can take your own pictures or there are several very good sources of free professional quality photographs that you can use for your websites. Make sure you give credit where credit is due.
Make sure your stories are valuable. Don’t waste your audience’s time. Teach them something they don’t already know. Entertain them. Website development is an art. Make yours exceptionally attractive.
There are a lot of different skills you will learn to produce your content. It is a very complicated puzzle and most of the pieces of the puzzle are complicated puzzles. Take your time. Plan – do – review. Improve your stories and your website little by little.
You won’t be very fast or all that good at this at first. Keep working. You’ll get better and better as you produce a lot of content. Using the tools over and over again will teach you how to use them well. Repetition leads to familiarity. Familiarity leads to high performance. Make yourself a high performance blogger.
