Terminal Kitty
I just compared the speed of Konsole and Kitty using the command time tree /. I had to install tree. It took Konsole 29 seconds to execute the command. It took Kitty 7 seconds. So it is settled. I will be using Kitty as my terminal.
I’ve been using Kitty for quite a while. I am slowly setting up my new desktop, to be a high performance development environment. The advantage of using Konsole is it is integrated into the KDE environment, so I may use it in some circumstances, but I will be using Kitty most of the time.
I’m just getting started on setting up this desktop to be able to contribute to the development of KDE. I like KDE because it makes it easy for beginners to learn how to use Linux. It looks a lot like Windows, which is why a lot of Linux users do not like it. The difference between KDE and Microsoft Windows is that with KDE you are the artist. With Windows, Microsoft is the artist.
I’m planning on hiring a tutor to help me get the computer set up right. You have to install a whole bunch of libraries for C/C++, Python, Lua, KDE, Qt and any other systems you plan on working on. Getting them installed correctly is the foundation of your development environment. I’ll get mine set up, then I’ll write some stories about how to do it.
I plan on using this computer for a long time, so it is important to get it set up correctly. That is why I will ask a more experienced computer user show me how to do it.
This article is not turning out very well. My main objective this morning is to write an article that is useful for you. I did not write very much while my computer was in the shop getting Linux installed, and now that I have the computer and I am starting to write again, I’m wondering, should I work on the book, or on the website.
I started working on the book yesterday and I’m thinking that I have some good content on this website. Now, I need to work on attracting traffic. Posting blog posts regularly is one thing you can do to attract traffic. There are other things you can do to attract traffic, but keep posting a lot of fresh content.
I’m writing this story and posting it to show you an example of working in your own home office. Writing about yourself and your agenda is not the most attractive content. Your audience has their own agenda and you want to help them accomplish their agenda, not bore them with yours.
Keep writing. Remember, you can edit and polish your stories before and after you post them.
Privacy
One of the things I am doing with Holistic Home Office is teaching people to guard your privacy. Do not sell your private information. Use Rumble, instead of YouTube. I do watch a lot of videos on YouTube, but I use Rumble for posting and managing my videos. There are other ways to promote your videos without selling your private info.
I use the Brave web browser to search the Internet. It uses block chain technology and Tor to protect your privacy and block out spam. The maintainers of Brave are currently working on building an AI assistant called Leo and integrating it into the Brave browser.
Attracting traffic to my website while I am trying to hide from the advertising corporations and control freaks is an interesting problem. I don’t hate advertising. I am just infuriated when the story I am trying to read is interrupted by obnoxious advertisements. I despise the control freaks trying to control what people can think and say and do. The Internet should be free and open-source technology.
Private property is a good thing, but we should not allow anyone to use private property to control other people. The global cloud of artificial intelligence under construction on earth right now is brand new. We are going to have to develop legislation in order to govern this brand new ecosystem, which has never existed before.
Err on the side of freedom. “Let my people go.” (Moses, 3000 years ago) The human race are my people. God makes the rules. God rules every human heart. Our civil laws need to reflect that spiritual reality. Love and respect the people around you. Do not try to control them.
So, this has turned into one of my rambling stories about what’s going on in my own mind. I hope they are not totally boring. I believe that most of my ideas are good ideas. The presentation needs improvement. I’m right, but I am not always right. I’m full of good and evil, just like every other human being, other than the Manifestation of God. Depend on God.
Ask for help. Let more experienced people help you get your computers and your home office set up right. Find the developers in your neighborhood and develop relationships with them. Don’t bother anyone. Find people who are willing and able to help you. Be willing to pay for their time and for their knowledge and skill.
Take your time. I’ve noticed that patience is very important in computer science. I’ve damaged my property several times by getting in a hurry and trying to force my computer to do something that it was already doing in the background. Sometimes you’ll wonder why the changes you made are not working. Then, you turn your computer off and go do something else. You come back and turn on your computer and lo, there are your changes.
Today, I installed Kitty and downloaded a default config file. The config file is 2455 lines long. I scanned the first few hundred lines. It’s mostly a lot of comments. It will teach you how to configure Kitty. Read the manual. Get familiar with your tools. Use the same tools, over and over again, cultivate your muscle memory.
I’ve written this blog post and downloaded a photo from my Microsoft Onedrive to use for the post. I’m planning on switching from Microsoft Onedrive to Akamai Linode sometime during 2024. Work on getting your own private free enterprise set up in your holistic home office.
Eat lots of natural whole food. Practice Qigong. Take good care of yourself and your family and friends. Peace be with you.
