Current Events
I started building a new website this week. It is a sub-domain of homeoffice.studio. It will have it’s own domain name, currentevents.studio.
My strategic plan is to split Holistic Home Office into three websites. Currentevents.studio will be good news about human nature and civilization. A third website will be about personal recovery and self-improvement.
I figure that going through the website setup process twice in quick succession will help me remember the procedures. Then, I will be able to write stories describing how to setup WordPress websites. The video below is a first step in that process of describing my experience.
Navigate to your Bluehost account. Click on My Sites. Click on add a site. Get your domain name pointed to your website. I use Hover to get the .studio domain names. On my Hover dashboard, I replace ns1.hover.com and ns2.hover.com with ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com. Follow the instructions. Take your time. It’s complicated and it takes time.
You will have to wait until the next day for the new address to propagate and the domain name to be properly pointing to your website. You will probably also need to set some settings in your Bluehost dashboard, such as insuring that your IP address is correctly set. You may also need to set your IP address in your Hover account. I clicked on the DNS tab and entered my new IP address.
I recommend getting a Bluehost Pro account and calling them whenever you get stuck. Be conservative. Don’t waste that valuable resource. The Bluehost technicians are busy. You should be able to find solutions to most of your problems by searching on the Internet. Use the Bluehost technicians when you really need to. Bluehost Pro is an annual billing cycle.
I signed up for WordPress Pro for one month. I used it too. I had to call them a couple of times. Once you get set up, you will rarely need to call them. WordPress Pro allows me to pay for one month of the service. I may sign up for it again, depending on how setting up these two new websites goes.
I’m using WordPress’ Gutenberg Block Editor and a Kadence theme. I intend to sign up for Kadence Pro. Not only does it provide the technical support, it also includes a lot more features for building your website.
