Improving Human Nature and Civilization
Take responsibility for yourself. Eating is not the most important feature of life on earth, but you do have to eat to live on earth. Teaching and cultivating personal responsibility and self-discipline of individual human beings is the most important facet of eliminating poverty and healing homelessness.
Spend some time and effort working on your material affairs. Financial intelligence is valuable knowledge. Study business law and accounting. Learn how to increase your capital and manage it well.
I figure that there are four dimensions of human nature and civilization.
- Spirituality
- Family
- Nutrition, exercise and mental and physical health.
- Financial and economic affairs.
They are arranged in order of importance. They all need to be well balanced.
Spirituality
Detachment from the material world is an important spiritual principal. Learn how to be in the world and not attached to the world. Love God, no matter what your material circumstances are. Our spiritual development is the purpose of life on earth.
Voluntary submission to God is the inner essence of all true religion. There is a spiritual and a material aspect of our freedom. God creates us to know, love and obey Him, voluntarily. I know this because God says so in every true religion.
Neuroscience of Spirituality
The biological nature of freedom involves your executive decision-making cortex enabling you to respond to your instincts and emotions voluntarily. The executive decision-making cortex is a cluster of cortexes that exists between your prefrontal cortex, which is where you think, and your Limbic system, which is where you feel.
Emotions are motives. Our executive decision-making cortex enables us to use our prefrontal cortex to respond to our instincts and emotions voluntarily. Broca’s Area and Wernicke’s Area are cortexes that generate our capacity for understanding and expressing language. They are components of our executive decision-making cortex.
Language is a set of rules. All natural history is governed by natural laws created by God. God makes the rules. That is what God does. He makes the rules, and the universe is evolving according to the natural laws that God makes. Language is a set of rules that are the basis of human consciousness. When we all follow the same set of rules, we can understand and communicate with each other using language.
We are born with the capacity to speak, but we must learn how to speak a particular language. Our executive decision-making cortex receives input from our entire body, mainly the Limbic System. Emotions motivate us to act. We think and learn in our language.
Our education originally comes from observing our parents and other people around us. Then, we start studying, in a variety of formats. We seek the truth about natural history and spirituality. This information is usually from external sources.
So, we have internal sources of information from our Limbic System and our body in general, and external sources of information coming from education and our prefrontal cortex. All these impulses are being processed in our executive decision-making cortex. Patterns are growing. Thoughts, ideas, and activity are clusters of neurons firing together.
The clusters of neurons, spread out all over the brain, are firing in cascading waves of activity, producing voluntary human consciousness. Some of them are clusters of neurons, a cortex, which are near each other. Others are patterns of neurons and cortexes spread out all over the brain, all firing together in a variety of patterns to produce human consciousness.
The development of this free agency in human nature inherently contains responsibility. Freedom and responsibility are two different aspects of the same thing, our creative freedom. Taking responsibility for yourself, liberates you from a sense of victimhood. Taking responsibility for yourself liberates you from the culture of dependence that is so popular these days.
God creates us in the image of God. One thing that means is, we are creative. We can’t create the universe out of nothing, but we can use the natural resources God has created to create art and technology. We can add value to the natural resources God has created.
Family
We can live as individuals, but the true nature of human beings is one man and one woman join together and become one family. Nurture your family intentionally. Work on making your relationship with your spouse, a relationship between two best friends.
Children are born into families, in the most primal form of human creativity. Babies need both a mother and father to develop a healthy personality. Even when the baby is developing in the mother’s womb, the baby can sense and is affected by the absence or presence of the father. The chemistry of mother’s womb is affected by the presence or absence of father. When the baby’s auditory faculties are developed, he or she can hear father’s voice.
If mother feels safe and loved, that will influence the developing baby. That love and affection will be hardwired into the baby’s brain, central nervous system and body and mind. If mother is abused or abandoned, that will also be hardwired into the baby’s physiology and psychology.
Physiology
Eat lots of natural whole food. Qigong is my favorite exercise. Do not use drugs for anything other than legitimate medical reasons. Drugs are chemical weapons that taste really good and cause insanity and death when used as intended. Human consciousness is the apex of the evolution of life on earth and altering your consciousness is degrading your consciousness.
Personal responsibility and self-discipline are the first line of defense against obesity. Our food supply is contaminated. Food processing companies take nutrients out of food because, as soon as food is harvested, nutrients cause the food to begin spoiling. The food processing companies replace the nutrients with artificial chemicals that enable the food to last a long time on store shelves. Since the food is deficient in nutrients, we eat more of it because it does not satisfy our appetite.
Pay attention to what you eat. Cultivate healthy habits of shopping, processing, cooking and eating your food. Eat together with your whole family as much as possible. Add a ten- or fifteen-minute Qigong session to your daily prayers and meditation. Qigong is a physical exercise that contributes to keeping your body limber and working in harmony with everything around you.
Professional Career
Work fast. Work smart. Work safe. Capitalism, which is private property and free enterprise, is the most productive social and economic development system ever invented. It is not perfect and can always be improved. It has produced more wealth for more people than any other system in human history. We can and should work on improving capitalism, rather than replacing it with any man-made social philosophy.
Respect everyone’s private property and their free enterprise. Education is a good and necessary feature of human nature and civilization, get as much education as you can, but your education does not give you any authority to control other people.
Everyone wants to be important, and everyone is important. Wanting to be more or less important than anyone else is a character defect. It’s like cancer. Cancer is a biological process growing out of control. Thinking that you are more or less important than anyone else is a psychological process, self-esteem, growing out of control.
Humanity is thriving. The world economy is booming. Stop complaining and get to work, adding value to the economy. Create something valuable and trade it in our one universal commonwealth.
