True Love is Voluntary

True love is naturally and inherently a voluntary attitude. First of all, procreation is a powerful instinct. Next, love is an emotional attachment to certain people. Emotions are motives. And most importantly, love is a voluntary impulse.

Biology

Human beings think in our language. The language processing cortex (Broca’s Area) is on the left side of the front part of the brain. There is another cluster of neurons (Wernicke’s Area) on the left side, towards the back of the brain. Broca’s area is directly connected, by neuronal axons, to Wernicke’s area.

Broca’s area is also directly connected to our prefrontal cortex, the area of the brain right behind our forehead, which is where we think. We think in our language. Language and thinking are features of human consciousness that are unique to human beings. No animal has these capacities. The most advanced animals have very primitive language and thinking capabilities. We have instinct and emotion in common with animals. Only human beings think and talk.

Voluntary Response

The area of the brain between the prefrontal cortex and the Limbic system, is the executive decision making cortex. Its the part of the brain that enables our voluntary response to our instincts and emotions. Just like the limbic system is a cluster of cortexes that specialize in particular functions, the executive decision making faculty is also a cluster of cortexes that specialize in various functions, like language, thinking and feeling.

Voluntary response to our instincts, emotions and thoughts is the biological nature of freedom. That freedom includes responsibility for our decisions. Personal responsibility is an integral feature of freedom. Accountability is another important consequence of the freedom inherent in human consciousness. We are responsible and accountable for all of our thoughts, words and deeds.

Voluntarily making our thoughts, words and deeds conform to the divine Rule of Law, revealed in the sacred writings, is real freedom. Self-discipline is not necessarily easy. Following these external rules, instead of our instincts and emotions, is scary. It’s the difference between the rule of law and the rule of man. Me making the rules in my life, is just another version of the rule of man. Self-discipline and voluntary submission to God is the true nature of freedom.

The role of language and the external environment is another very interesting aspect of freedom, and human consciousness in general. Not only do neurons resonate with each other to create thoughts, feelings and ideas, our brains also resonate with each other to create families, tribes and civilizations. Language is the primary means of communication, but there are others, such as body language and probably some sort of electronic sensory connection between people. You know, the Qi flowing in, around and through everything?

I hypothesize that there is one unified field, called Speis. Speis is an ancient Indo-European word that means spirit. I hope and believe there is only one God. I don’t know very much about Him. He is far greater than I can possibly understand, let alone describe. God is loving caring and greater than me. God is the one and only Source of Speis.

Spirituality

God makes the rules. Natural laws, like the laws of physics, chemistry and biology are some of the rules God makes. The universe and everything in it are evolving according to the natural laws that God is creating. Natural laws are constant and universal.

There are psychological principles that are just as real and constant as the laws of physics and chemistry. There are sociological rules that govern human societies. The rules are made by God, not any human being or any group of human beings.

God reveals Himself to human consciousness, first in oral stories, passed down through many generations of human history. Those stories are the beginning of human history. God always reveals Himself to One individual human being, Who then tells everyone what God says. God decides what the one true religion is, not me or you or anyone else, other than the Manifestation of God.

Adam was one such Prophet of God. Probably not the first and definitely not the last. Most of the early stories were about family and the relationships, trials, tribulations and adventures of families. Families evolved into tribes and then empires and then nations and now, one universal and divine civilization is evolving everywhere on earth, and even throughout our solar system, and now that Pioneer and Voyager have left the solar system, our corner of the galaxy.

Moses was One of the Prophets of God, Who started writing the stories down a few thousand years ago. These stories, the divine education, have been transforming troops of hominins into tribes of human beings. Civilizations arise based on the divine education revealed in the stories. The language and stories and divine education cause primitive hominins to evolve into civilized human beings. And human nature and civilization will continue to advance in waves of progress from now on.

Divine Civilization

Divine education reveals the divine rule of law. The moral values and spiritual principles are just as real and constant as the natural laws of physics, chemistry and biology. In fact, the divine rule of law is far more real and constant than natural history. The voluntary nature of spirituality is a critical feature of true spirituality. “There is no compulsion in the religion of God,” (The Holy Quran).

Seek God. The Manifestation of God is the divine Teacher. Learn the moral and spiritual way of life from the Manifestation of God and then, practice that moral and spiritual way of life, in your life. You cannot reject the Manifestation of God and be a truly spiritual person. Selfish ambition is the dark side of human nature. Thank God Jesus Christ saved us. Islam is the inner essence of every true religion. Baha’u’llah is the Manifestation of God for today.

Submission to God is the inner essence of every true religion. That attitude of submission is a voluntary attitude and a voluntary way of life. Submission to God is the actual nature of freedom.

The divine law of marriage is one of the first rules of human nature and civilization. Another distinctive feature of human nature is the fact that human beings normally have sex face to face. That eye to eye intimacy is very important.

Kids need love and affection and discipline. They need to be taught to be civilized. Divine education teaches anyone who wants to love and obey God, how to be civilized.

So, God has created this entire universe just so that life can evolve and civilized human beings can discover and know and love God. Our rational souls are associated with our brains for a while. It’s like our bodies are incubators. The real world is whatever comes after our life on earth. Space and time are features of natural history that will disappear when we pass on to the real world. God created us because He loves us. Peace be with you.
