Bluehost Project

Bluehost is the commercial hosting company I use and recommend. Bluehost is part of the Endurance International Group, Inc., which owns several companies that provide Internet hosting, domain names and other IT services for small businesses. It is the business behind small business.

EIGI is in the same business I’m in; helping people use modern technology to produce your own private free enterprise, instead of working for some one else’s free enterprise.

I recommend that you start out building a Bluehost website like I am. Full disclosure; I earn a commission if you click on a Bluehost banner or link anywhere on this website, or anywhere else I put one of the Banners or links, and then buy something from Bluehost.

homeoffice.studio is hosted on Bluehost. I use commercial hosting services because, its more secure than any home made system I could build. The hosting company also makes building websites a lot easier. No need to get bogged down building every little detail of your website from scratch.

I’ve looked at quite a few hosting options and this is the one I like the best, at least for now. I almost changed one time, because I saw a fancier website about another hosting company. One of my friends asked me if Bluehost had done anything wrong and I thought, no, it’s been fantastic.

Another thing is that, the way I do things is just one of many options. I’m figuring all this out by reading the documentation and trial and error. I may not find the most efficient way of doing things at first. I’m definitely improving my computer programming skills.

You can follow my example and get your first website up and running as quickly as you can. Just navigate to Bluehost.com or some other hosting company and follow their directions to get your website up and running. Get some experience using the tools and building, operating, maintaining and repairing your own website. You’ll learn how to use the technology, far beyond what I show you and in directions that you determine.

Since WordPress is one of the most popular website frameworks, building a website using WordPress is not a bad idea. I’m learning how to do it and I’ll write a few articles about how to do it.

I’m using Bluehost’s one click WordPress application for Holistic Home Office. Its been fairly easy to start producing content. I’ve got a fairly decent collection of articles and blog posts published, even though they are still in a fairly primitive stage of development.

So far, homeoffice.studio is full of notes I’m writing, as I study computer science and develop a cluster of websites. I’m interested in learning how to set up a local development environment. I’ll be writing about what I learn here at Holistic Home Office.

I’m not sure if this is the most productive workflow, but the habit I’ve developed is, I write stories in Kate and then copy and paste them into the WordPress Gutenberg editor. I edit and polish the stories long after I post them on the website. I’m working on producing a very valuable, entertaining eduction.

Theme

I’m using Kadence Pro theme for homeoffice.studio. I didn’t know anything about themes when I first started. This theme has been working amazingly well. It is very stable. The Kadence theme and the Kadence Design Library has added significant new design capabilities.

In order to get my websites more narrowly focused on topic, I’m planning on dividing this website up into three websites. This one about home office based business and technology, another one about self improvement and another one about world unity. I will use Kadence themes for all of the websites.

I recommend that you do the same thing. Kadence is a very advanced WordPress theme, with a team of progammers actively developing it. It is designed to maximize the benefits of WordPress’ Gutenberg editor. Kadence enables you to use Gutenberg’s block editor to edit your entire website, not just the content of your posts and pages.

Plugins

Look at the plugins you can use to extend the capabilities of WordPress. One strategy is to delete all the plugins and start with a clean slate. I recommend using the plugins Bluehost recommends. I want Bluehost to earn commissions and be profitable. And they are well informed about the plugins they are recommending.

Yoast, Jetpack and MonsterInsights are some of the plugins I’m using right now. Make sure you get a combination of plugins that work well together. There are many options and some of them accomplish the same thing. For example, you can build all kinds of forms with WPForms, so you don’t need another plugin to do that.

Start with WPForms and All in One SEO. There is a pro version of many of the plugins. Get them installed and configured and set up your affiliate links.

After a couple of years of working on this website, I’ve settled on using the Yoast SEO Plugin. I still have Jetpack and MonsterInsights installed.

Traffic

Before you start developing your affiliate links and executing your monetization plan, create at least 50 pages of valuable content. And then start developing your traffic plan.

Set up accounts on Facebook, Google Analytics, LinkedIn, Reddit and other social media platforms. Link them back to your website.

Get your business cards printed and other advertising media from Vista Print or some other company. Attend Meetups related to your website. Go to conventions about the subject of your website.

Continue to read about your topics. Study. Learn. Teach people about whatever your topic is, on and off line. Cultivate your expertise about your topic. Have fun telling people stories about your website and your business.

Create your elevator pitch. A story you can tell people in 30 seconds or less. Plan your sales strategy and practice. Sales and marketing are an important part of any business and eCommerce is a whole new media for sales and marketing. Tell your story on and off line.

Follow the Yoast trail to get your stories to be attractive to search engines. Get your PayPal and Bitcoin set up so you can get paid. Then, set up your social media campaigns. Build your own channel of entertaining education.

Creating Streams of Income

Affiliate links are one good way to add streams of income to your website. The affiliate programs sell themselves. You presell them, by putting links in the context of your stories and recommending them and posting banner adds, etc.

You can also get a merchandise system set up to sell t-shirts and coffee mugs with your company logo on it.

And of course, write a book every once in a while and offer it for sale on your websites.
