Get yourself a decent set of cameras. Get really good at using your smart phone camera. Video cameras are a value tool. You can use a drone mounted camera to take aerial videos of your neighborhood.

Having a decent camera gives you an excuse to get out of the house every once in a while. Take your camera and get some pictures. I usually get more than 1000 pictures every time I take my camera out. Most of them are not very good pictures, but some of these other programs, like Gimp, can make not very good pictures, into great pictures.

Tripods, microphones and other camera paraphernalia is another set of tools you can use. Find a good camera shop in your neighborhood and visit it every once in a while. Get your home office studio set up so you can produce all kinds of text, audio and video stories for your websites.

Work on getting good at using the tools you have. They are expensive tools. Get your money’s worth out of them. Always be mindful of your audience. When you’re out there walking in the park, taking pictures of the duck in the pond, remember your audience.

You’ve got to be careful about taking pictures of people that you don’t know. Taking pictures of private property might be an issue as well. I like taking pictures of urban scenery. I try to not focus on any people.

You can take pictures of people you know, who agree to be photographed. Just be careful about publishing pictures of people on your website. Make sure you follow all the rules and be kind and respectful of other people’s privacy.

I’ve been taking a lot of pictures of big scenes that I see, like the skyline of Seattle. After doing that for a while, I realize that taking close up pictures of smaller scenes will probably work better.

Finding pictures that fit in with the topic of holistic home office is another problem I need to work on. How can I get my own photography integrated into this website. I can get pretty decent professional photos online for free.

I’m thinking that I want to make the website into a photo gallery, showcasing my own photography. Mix the photos in with some Krita paintings, Inkscape drawings, and photos, edited in Gimp, with lots of special effects.

I give my stories and the photos and videos away for free, under the Creative Commons 4.0 license. I figure that will help attract an audience. It will make my stories available to the poor homeless people, who can’t afford to pay anything right now. I’ll sell books and Holistic Home Office paraphernalia, like t-shirts and coffee mugs and affiliate programs.

Once you get Linux learned, which you never really will. You can always learn more about Linux. Once you learn how to build websites. The writing and the photography are the tools of your trade. Creating content is your business. Make your website a wondrous story time.

Smart Phone Camera

Get used to being a quick draw photographer. Photograph everything. Get in the habit of taking out your phone and taking lots of pictures and videos. Pay attention to smaller scenes.

Your smart phone is one of your most valuable tools. I’m using mine to make videos and take pictures for the website. Of course, you can also use it as a communications device. Get in the habit of using KNotes,KDE Connect, Linode, and Kontact to help you organize your business and synchronize your smartphones with your computers.

Use Gimp Tools > Transform Tools to adjust the align, rotate and perspective of your photos. Use Image > Scale Image to resize your pictures, so they will fit in your website gallery.

Spend a lot of time taking pictures, editing them, and installing them on your websites or other venues. Work on developing your photography studio. Learn how to use your tools well and develop a high performance video and image production studio.

With thousands of pictures, there is no need to reuse any of them.

Canon EOS Rebel SL2

I bought this Canon EOS Rebel SL2 a few year ago and I’ve taken thousands of pictures with it. I also have a Samsung Note 9 smart phone, which has a pretty good camera on it. Now, I also have a Samsung S22 Ultra. I keep the camera on my laptop covered up, so no one can spy on me, at least not visually.

Laptop Camera

Your laptop camera is not very useful for photography, unless you like taking pictures of yourself. You can use it to make screencasts for your website. It’s most useful as a communications device, enabling you to participate in video conferencing events.

One time, I bought a new laptop and it was sitting on the coffee table while I was reading the instructions. The screen saver came on. It was bubbles floating around the screen. There were pictures of me in some of the bubbles. I’m like wow, how did they get pictures of me? Then, I realized the computer was taking pictures of me right then. Kind of spooky.

I can easily uncover the camera and use it whenever I want to film me working with the laptop. I also take a lot of screen shots of the applications I’m writing about. That gives me some pictures that are more closely related to the stories I’m writing, than pictures of the scenery in my neighborhood.

Screen Shots

Screen shots are another good way to make images. Taking pictures of your computer screen can come in handy, especially if you are are writing about computers or programming, etc. You can take screen shots of your whole screen or any portion of the screen.

Work on developing a photography system. Keep your images and videos well organized. Beware of clutter. You can use digiKam and Gimp in your high performance workflow.
