Life is What Happens Between Plans

Hello, how are you today? I hope you are well. I call myself ‘MR PENET’ and I have been invited to write an article or two for the Holistic Home Office located at ‘www.homeoffice.studio.’ I am told to write something useful, interesting and entertaining, but to keep it fairly short. To start with, then, I shall say this, not everything I say will be useful to youbut some things that are new may be interesting. It is up to you to decide which is which. This said, and keeping the article short, I want to begin with saying, namely “Life is what happens between plans.”

Now the ‘saying’ to me is of great importance because we all make detailed and careful ‘plans’ that often fall apart because ‘life’ interferes and gets in the way. I think many of us will agree on this; therefor, I want to talk more about it. Clearly, this is a big undertaking, but not if I suggest only a few, useful and simple ideas that may improve your daily ‘life’ so it doesn’t interfere with your well-made out ‘plans.’ Quickly and to the point, I want to talk or mention the idea of ‘soft skills.’

When I say ‘soft skills‘ I mean basic every-day or regular self-help improvements such as good grooming, appropriate dressing, better eating habits and better sleeping habits. Let me get particular, I mean, for example, if you can spend a few moments to brush your hair before you leave for your employment, then do so, because it will make you look more organized than it you didn’t. Another ‘soft skill’ would be to wear appropriate clothing, especially shoes, for the daily tasks; and better still lay out your clothes, if you can, the day before. There are many important and meaningful ‘soft skills’ to mention that are often neglected, but my article must be short; therefor, I will only list a few ‘soft skills’ that no-one has the time nor the kindness to usually mention; (1) If a pair of your favorite pants has belt loops on them, but a belt. (2) Wear a daily deoderant, some influential people you meet are hyper-sensitive to smells. (3) At the end of the day sit at the kitchen table and carefully think about the food you have eaten. Some of the food you have eaten will be unnecessary; others foods will simply have reduced your performance agility. (4) Get into the habit of turning-off your computer machines at bed time, or at least put them on snooxe; and at least make a habit of going to bed at a certain time, and so on.

Clearly most of what I have said in this article is common knowledge, but it is quite difficult to get around to doing some of the ‘soft skill’ tasks; but practicing and identifying ‘soft skills’ does in the long term, make a quality of life difference. The saying that “Life Is What Happens Between Plans” could be thought of in a different way, meaning perhaps “My disorganized life could partially to blame for the failure of my well-ordered plans.” In closing I say this: not everything I have said in the article will be useful for you but some things that are new may be of interest to you. It is up to you to decide which is which.

Sincerely, MR PENSET
