Affiliate Marketing
I’ve been mentioning Clickbank in some of my other stories and thought that it probably deserves a story itself. One of the reasons I’m interested in it is that I’m interested in helping anyone who wants to earn a living working in your own home office.
Amazon may be a better way. I don’t know yet, but I will definitely take a look at Clickbank and see if I can build a profitable publishing business with it.
CJ Affiliates is another affiliate program I’ve noticed. One thing I noticed about it is that Barnes and Nobles affiliate program is run by CJ Affiliates. That is a big deal. Being able to presell Barnes and Nobles products in my stories will be a very valuable addition to my business.
Recommending books is something I do all the time. Having a way to earn income from that would be a major accomplishment for me.
These affiliate marketing programs usually have pretty decent training to help you get started. Look into it.
The first thing you need to do is produce a lot of valuable content. Then, you need to start attracting some serious traffic to your website. Then you can start preselling content.
Preselling is recommending a solution to a problem you are writing about. The company you are recommending as a solution will do the selling. You just link to the company website and earn a small commission whenever one of your referrals buys one of the company’s products.
Work on getting your content to shine. You’ve got to add some value to the market. Then work on building your traffic. Perhaps you can setup a way for your audience to log in and participate in the conversation.
Get your tracking software set up so you can monitor your traffic. See who’s reading your stories. Remember, reading is not what most people like to do online. They prefer watching a video. Sometimes I like watching videos, other times I like reading stories.
Keep your blog posts short and sweet. Make your articles informative. In depth white papers are a good idea. Offer a email newsletter, so people can sign up to receive your blog posts in their email inbox. Connect your blog to your social media platforms.
So, once you have a good amount of valuable content published, start working on your sign up and login forms and your user management workflow. Start building a list of your audience.
Make sure you follow all the rules about not spamming people. Spamming people in any way degrades the internet and your reputation.
Just start tracking and building your audience and then placing affiliate links in your stories. This is going to be a very important part of your business, so take your time and do it right.
Don’t just sign up and start throwing ads up. If you’re not attracting any traffic you’re going to be wasting everyone’s resources. Build up your content first. Then work on attracting your audience.
Once you have attracted a decent audience, then start offering products through your affiliate program.
